Begin studying for your test over Ch. 1 that will be on Friday.

Read Chapter 1 Section 3 (Pgs. 27-30).

Come in to class ready to discuss what you learned from the section.

Thursday, Aug. 24th

There is no HW tonight!

Instead, as a GWA tradition, please plan to attend the Ice Cream Social tonight at 6:30. Ice Cream will be served in the Nicholson center followed by a Pep Rally on the Football Field to kick off the school year!

Wednesday, Aug. 23rd

Complete the Chapter 1 Section 2 Review #1-5 on Pg. 23 of the textbook.

This should be completed in the Homework section of OneNote and in complete sentences.

Tomorrow night is the ICE CREAM SOCIAL. Please plan to attend with your family.

Tuesday, Aug. 22nd

Study for your Ch. 1-1 Quiz tomorrow. The quiz will cover all information from section 1 as well as the information on B.C. and A.D. time and timelines.

Also, read Ch. 1 Section 2. (Pgs. 17-23).

Monday, Aug. 21st

Begin studying for your Quiz on Wednesday.

The quiz will cover all information on Chapter 1 Section 1 as well as our discussion on time and timelines.

You should be able to put dates in order including B.C. and A.D. as well as create a timeline with appropriate spacing between dates.

Thursday, Aug. 17th

There is no S.S. homework tonight.

We will have our 1st quiz next Tuesday covering only the material from Ch. 1-1 and our discussion on timelines. We will discuss the quiz more in class tomorrow.

Welcome to 6^th Grade! I look forward to having a great school year with all my students.  We will be working hard, learning as much as possible, and having fun!

Expectations:

• BE POSITIVE!

• Complete all work to the best of your ability
• Respect yourself and others.
• Listen to the person who is speaking.
• Come into class Quietly and ready to learn.

Grading System

           20% -homework/class work

30% -quizzes

50% -tests/projects

There will be approximately 4-5 tests/projects each nine weeks. Test and projects are the best indicators of what you have learned so please prepare!

Homework Policy

We try to keep all homework assignments in each academic class less than 30 minutes per day, but this excludes special projects.

All completed=100

Two thirds completed=80

Half completed=50

Less than half or none completed=0.

Homework is the responsibility of the student in 6^th grade. Part of completing the homework assignment is bringing it to school and to class.

History Field Trip

During our 3^rd quarter, we will be studying the Middle Ages and Medieval Time period. As part of this unit, we will visit and participate in the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament.

Absent Policy:

For every day a student misses, he or she has that many days to turn in the missed work. It is the responsibility of the student to find out the missed assignment and turn in the work. A “1” will be entered into the gradebook for any missed work due to absences, and will be changed if the assignment is turned in on time. If you are absent, please check each teachers blog for assignments.

Grades will be posted to RenWeb which parents have access to anytime. Please check your student’s grades periodically. To set up an account, or for any questions regarding your RenWeb access, please see the Guidance office.
